AR Denarius, 3.89g. 18mm. CN PISO PRO Q. Head of Numa Pompilius with diadem inscribed NUMA r. Rv. MAGN PRO COS. Galley r. CR 446/1. RSC 103,4. minor planchet flaw on rev. Lovely old collection toning and excellent strike.
The obverse depicts Numa Pompilius, the second King of Rome, from whom Pompey's family claimed descent. The galley refers to Pompey's campaigns against the pirates.
